Will 57K ever become 66K?
Any news on our battle with LLDC over the ludicrous capacity issue?

Not this again. Surely this has been explained time and time again and is very simple to understand. EVERY league home game sells-out.

Whether people who have bought tickets (or hold a season-ticket) decide to turn up or not is up to them.

I cannot understand why you wouldn't turn up for something that you've paid for but there we are.

With the signings that we've made this transfer window; you can be certain that fans will turn up for the tickets that they've paid for now and there'll be far fewer empty seats.

If we were ever highly successful; we could fill all 80k seats at the stadium or however many there are. No ifs and buts about it.

The crowds that we get now with the shit cunt side and performances that we've had to endure over the past couple of years is incredible. I don't think that any other club would get the gates that we've had in the same situation.

Well yes, this is true.

Gold0 made a comment on Twitter about them not going for the higher attendance as it wasn't worth it or something at the time though.

OTB

I get where you are coming from but surely more bums on seats = more revenue in the club store and on booze and food? Probably not a huge amount more so I guess it depends on how much effort would be required to get people to turn up.

Wrong. The tickets sold, and that's all that matters to them. Empty seats is still money in the bank.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
The original reason for not doing it was because the board decided not to push for it as actual attendances didn't demand it.

Remember under FOI we were seeing up 10k empty seats.

Last year was the same if not worse, so I suggest they'll actually push for it once people consistently show up for games.

Demand and supply innit? All quite simple.

You lot continue to pretend it's big bad Khan though.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
oh yeah im not syaing its easy but there are things that in the longer term you could do....for example filling in the upper tier where the screens are (placing them under the roof) gives a few thousand in itself. There are of course gaps all over the place that could be put into use with a bit of noddle.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
Gav,
That was the capacity in it's original form but can it be brought back up to that level in it's current form? ie after we practically rebuilt the lower tier?

I understand there are currently 66k seats with 9k unused in the upper tier, just wasn't sure where the extra 14k would come from to make it 80k?

Gavros 2:49 Fri Jul 20
Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
It can potentially go back up to 80k.

an increase above 66k? what do you want to increase to?

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
It just adds to the temporary non football feel, which would be my argument for an increase.
We need to renegotiate our deal, problem is our owners are happy to pay peanuts and not a penny more, even though we'd only have to pay a bit more and would be making more money via tickets and merchandising plus both parties would benefit from an increase in food & drink sales.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
The point is that we are not allowed to use all the seats due to safety concerns and the deal we have which is quite frankly pathetic and pointless.

Literal Paul 1:51 Fri Jul 20
Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
so 57k already is 66k, this thread is misleading.

Gavros 1:51 Fri Jul 20
Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
also just empty seats all over the shop every game. there's a big gap in the south east upper tier.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
At the back of the upper tiers. Currently covered in black tarpaulin every game.

It will, if we add 9,000 extra seats.

We need to move all retractable seats closer to the pitch.

Hmmm. The authorities do seem to be approaching this as if they are the ones "In charge" here and we will jolly well have to do what they say (or else its a visit to the headmaster and detention).

They have the perfect role model in the EU's approach to Brexit.

Re: Will 57K ever become 66K?
When we can all behave appropriately ie remain seated, certainly no running around to the directors box and shouting nasty words at the occupants or the visiting supporters

Willtell
I am not sure there was a promise but an interpretation on how any costs in increasing matchday capacity should be met.

I am guessing but I assume we believe it should covered in or if increased be at the similar rate as we currently pay whereas the LLDC probably feel we should meet all costs, until no agreement is met the capacity stays at 57,000 and the courts will resolve whose is right.
